  • Robber's Cave (Guchhupani)

    A narrow river gorge where a stream runs through a natural cave. A popular, easy half-day outing.

  • Sahastradhara

    Sulphur springs and limestone terraces set in the hills on the edge of the city.

  • Forest Research Institute

    A landmark colonial-era campus with museums on forestry, set in wide grounds.

  • Tapkeshwar Temple

    A cave temple dedicated to Shiva, beside a stream, where water drips onto the shrine.

  • Mindrolling Monastery

    One of the largest Buddhist centres in India, known for its great stupa and gardens in Clement Town.

  • Mussoorie

    The hill station above Dehradun, with mall-road walks and views of the Himalayan range on clear days.

  • Rishikesh

    The yoga and rafting town on the Ganga, an easy day trip from Dehradun.

    A small zoological park on the road to Mussoorie, good for families.

A base for the hills and the river

Many guests use Trishul Homestay as a starting point. Mussoorie is the classic day out, up the winding road above the city for cooler air and long views on clear days. In the other direction, Rishikesh and Haridwar on the Ganga offer evening aarti, rafting and riverside walks. Both are comfortable day trips from Dehradun, and we can help arrange a car for the day.
